Madrid's Winning Identity: Tchouaméni, Team Spirit, and Mbappé’s Moment in La Liga
5 October 2025

Match Recap
Aurélien Tchouaméni, Real Madrid’s French midfielder, says he is happy to spend four years at the world’s best club, praising the environment and a strong sense of teamwork.
Real Madrid defeated Villarreal 3-1 at the Santiago Bernabéu in La Liga matchday eight.
Speaking on the club channel, he said they knew Villarreal is a strong side and they aimed to take three points before the international break, which they achieved thanks to contributions from everyone.
He acknowledged the painful 5-2 loss to Atlético Madrid but noted that with a game every three days they must rely on each other.
He credited coach Xabi Alonso and his teammates for the step-by-step improvement and called the win very important.
The Frenchman expressed gratitude to Alonso and his teammates, saying the atmosphere is built on teamwork and a desire to improve.
On his 100th La Liga appearance, Tchouaméni said he is very happy; four years since joining Real Madrid, he still feels the same excitement and wants to stay for many years, helping to secure more wins and trophies, as the club lives on winning and players bear the responsibility of preserving that identity.
Madrid’s points rose to 21, keeping them atop La Liga ahead of Barcelona, who sit two points behind before their clash with Sevilla.
The season started with a strong run, with wins over Osasuna, Real Oviedo, Mallorca, Real Sociedad, Espanyol and Levante, followed by a heavy defeat at Atlético Madrid (5-2), which dropped Madrid to second with 18 points as Barca led with 19.
Mbappé on fire
Opta confirms Kylian Mbappé continued his remarkable goalscoring streak, scoring in nine consecutive matches for club and country, a personal best that topped his previous run with PSG in late 2019 and early 2020, then repeated in 2025.
Mbappé has been Madrid’s main attacking figure this season, with 14 goals in 10 matches across all competitions, highlighting his pace and ability to influence games late in the attack.
Despite Vinícius Júnior’s double, Mbappé remains the decisive player in the final third for the project under Alonso.
However, Madrid’s joy was tempered when Mbappé pulled up in the 82nd minute with pain in his right ankle, prompting the medical staff to act quickly and forcing a substitution for Rodrygo to protect his safety.
Initial club reports suggested no serious issue, only a mild discomfort or ankle sprain, but concerns linger ahead of the France squad call-up for World Cup 2026 qualifiers during the international break.
