Mahrez Clears Rumors About His Future
The Algerian magician ends the debate.
Algerian international Riyad Mahrez, Al-Ahli Jeddah’s winger, has issued a decisive response to rumors of his departure after this season.
At 34, Mahrez joined Al-Ahli in the summer of 2023 from Manchester City and has since been a key pillar for the club.
His contract runs until summer 2027, and despite media links to a potential exit after this season, he addressed the rumors following Al-Ahli’s 1-0 win over Al Khulood in Round 16 of the Roshen Pro League.
In an interview on the Saudi program "Dawranah Gheer" he said: "Happy to keep the wins coming; we want to win every match."
He added: "We don’t focus on opponents; our primary goal is victories, then we’ll see what happens at the end of the season. We dream of collecting as many trophies as possible."
Asked about his future, he simply stated: "Of course I will stay with Al-Ahli; there is nothing else."
Marez has been a central figure in Al-Ahli’s trophy-laden run, including titles in the Elite AFC Champions League and the Saudi Super Cup.
Punchline: If rumors were goals, Mahrez would have a golden boot collecting dust—he just scored staying power instead.
Punchline: With Mahrez sticking around, the trophy cabinet might need a bigger shelf—and perhaps a rumor-proof lock for good measure.
