Mbappé Absent from Best FIFA Voting as Dembélé Clinches The Best 2025

Mbappé Skips the Ballot
The vote for The Best FIFA Awards 2025 yielded a strange moment: Kylian Mbappé, France’s captain, did not vote, nor did any other member of the Blues squad who usually feature on the ballot.
France was heavily represented among the nominees, with Dembele and Mbappé among the French contenders, alongside the Spanish youngster Lamine Yamal.
Didier Deschamps, coach of the French team, appeared in the voters list; he ranked Dembele first, Mbappé second, and Ashraf Hakimi third. This hinted at the delicate balance between club duties and national pride.
Dembelé Triumphs and French Flair
In Germany, team captain Joshua Kimmich named Vinicius Junior first, Harry Kane second, and Pedri third.
Germany's coach Julian Nagelsmann had Vinícius first, then Dembele, followed by Kane.
Ousmane Dembele ultimately won The Best 2025 at a ceremony in Doha.
Dembele also added the Ballon dOr, earned in September, for his dazzling form with Paris Saint-Germain and leading the club to several titles, including their first Champions League. Dembele's double trophy haul marks him as one of the standout stars of the season, even if the voting still causes debate.
Punchline 1: Mbappé didn’t vote—clearly his aim is more about celebrations than ballots. Sniper level: misses the ballot, still scores the headlines.
Punchline 2: If ballots were targets, Mbappé would be famous for precision at avoiding the ballot box; results games, toujours, but the headlines stay loud.
