Mbappe fuels Madrid's big win over Bilbao
The French superstar Kylian Mbappe, Real Madrid's marquee forward, delivered a standout performance in the big five leagues by scoring twice against Athletic Bilbao.
Madrid carved out a convincing 3-0 victory at San Mamés on Wednesday night, a La Liga fixture from matchday 19.
The goals were shared by Mbappe (two) and his fellow Frenchman Eduardo Camavinga.
According to the statistics network Skoaka, Mbappe is the first player in Europe's five major leagues to reach 25 goals for his club across all competitions this season.
The network added that Mbappe became the first player to both score and provide an assist in three different La Liga games this season, against Real Sociedad, Villarreal, and Athletic Bilbao.
Mbappe is now the second player to reach 15 goals or more in Europe's five major leagues this season after Erling Haaland of Manchester City.
Opta noted that Mbappe has contributed to more goals than 15 La Liga clubs this season (16 goals and four assists).
With the win, Real Madrid moved to 36 points, sitting second in La Liga, just one behind leaders Barcelona.
Punchline 1: If Mbappe keeps this up, the net might file a restraining order against the ball.
Punchline 2: Madrid's attack is so efficient that even the calendar starts counting goals instead of days.
