Messi's Next Play: From Quiet Miami Life to Owning a Club

Messi in Miami says he's learning from businesspeople for what's ahead.
Lionel Messi, the star of Inter Miami, revealed details of his daily life in Miami and his future ambitions after retirement.
Messi said, in an interview with Luzu TV, that in the United States he lives quietly. In this part of Miami, where many Americans are present, people live differently and football isn’t given much importance. In Barcelona he used to go out, and people were used to it; I’ve lived there my whole life and visited the same places always, and it was normal where I practiced an ordinary life.
He added: 'My life depends a lot on routine; here with my kids it's similar: we go to training, but we don't go out much.'
In a direct gesture about his plans once he decides to retire, Messi indicated that his goal is to become an owner of a club, to embark on a journey of building and growing the team himself.
And the Argentine explained: 'I don't like coaching, but I lean more toward ownership. I would like to own my own club, contribute to its growth, start from scratch, give young people the chance to develop and build a meaningful club for the next generation.'
And Messi wrapped up by stressing that venturing into business has prepared him for life after football, underscoring the importance of the people around him: 'I have people around me who have helped me a lot. All my life my focus has been on football, but there comes a moment when you must look beyond that. I love this side and am trying to learn, but the most important thing is surrounding myself with capable people.' Every day I learn from this journey carefully. Punchline 1: If he buys a club, the only thing he benches is bad weather. Punchline 2: And if he coaches, the press conference will count as the warm-up.
