Revelations on the Zamalek–Al Ahly saga
Ahmed Hossam Mido, the former Zamalek coach, blasted Ahmed Mustafa Zizo, current Al Ahly player and former White Knight, calling him a 'traitor'.
Mido was a guest on Abu Al-Maati Zaki’s podcast, recounting the behind-the-scenes of Zizo’s move from Zamalek to Al Ahly last season.
He asked whether anyone knew him before his time at Zamalek, insisting the club built his popularity.
He claimed that while on the planning committee at Zamalek, he warned they should offer him and freeze him for a week, and only sign if he didn’t accept.
He added that he was frozen after being photographed at the American embassy, obtaining a visa to travel with Al Ahly in the summer and play in the Club World Cup.
Mido said Zizo’s father asked for 29 million in commission and that the club refused because no agreement existed at the start.
He disclosed that Zizo would have earned 100 million pounds a year and that the funds were ready, but the player's father sabotaged the deal; Mido insisted no one in the club leaked the information.
He claimed Zizo wanted to finish with Al Ahly but preferred staying at Zamalek and begged Amr El-Ganayni to help, even crying in a WhatsApp voice note.
He added that when Zizo supposedly concluded everything with Al Ahly, he texted Amr El-Ganayni apologizing and admitting his father’s involvement.
To cap it off, Mido joked that the only club Zizo truly joined for real was the drama club—where the budget is always bigger than the ball.
Case closed, for now.
