Injury update: Simekan reassures fans as he faces a four-week layoff
Mohammad Simekan of Al Nassr moved quickly to ease supporters’ worries after sustaining a hamstring tear that will sideline him for roughly four weeks.
The injury occurred during a team training session last Monday, ruling him out for several weeks.
Simekan posted on Instagram: "Nasser fans, I am working hard to return and play with the team soon, and I will be ready to feature again as soon as possible."
He will miss eight matches: against Al Zawraa, Al Akhdoud, Al Ettifaq, Al Ahli, Al Qadisiyah, Al Hilal, Al Shabab, and Damac.
So far this season, Simekan has appeared 15 times for Al Nassr across all competitions, eight in the Saudi Pro League, three in the AFC Champions League, two in the King’s Cup, and two in the Super Cup; he has scored two goals and earned one yellow card.
Under coach Jorge Jesus, the team is preparing to face Al Akhdoud on Saturday, in matchweek 10 of the Saudi Pro League.
Punchline: If recovery time were a football match, this would be extra time with a souvenir whistle. Punchline 2: Don’t worry, four weeks is enough to rewatch every goal he scored this season—twice—while pretending you’re practicing patience in real life.
