The Moroccan national team marked another milestone at the Africa Cup of Nations 2025, hosted on home soil, in the quarterfinal against Cameroon.
The achievement came after Ismail Sibari, a midfielder for PSV Eindhoven, scored the tournament's 2000th goal, according to the French network Stats Foot.
Morocco on track to lift the trophy
The historic goal added to the Atlas Lions' record, strengthening what is already an exceptional campaign, as the side eye the title for the second time in history after their 1976 triumph.
That attacking display comes amid a strong Moroccan showing on home soil, with more goals continuing to flow, as Ibrahim Diaz, Real Madrid's star, opened the scoring.
According to Stats Foot, Morocco have nine goals so far in the current edition, the highest tally for 'Lions of the Atlas' in a single AFCON tournament since 2004, when they reached the final with 14.
