New reinforcement for the under-21 squad
Jorge Jesus, the head coach of Al-Nassr’s first team, has decided to bolster the club’s under-21s with a fresh addition ahead of the decisive phase of the Jowy Elite League. The move signals a belief in youth development as the path to sustained success, with a veteran touch of strategic patience thrown in for good measure.
The Saudi media have reported that Sami Al-Najai, after recovering from an ACL injury, will join the U21 squad to sharpen his edge before rejoining the first team. This is part of a broader plan to ensure key players stay in rhythm during a tight schedule.
Upcoming fixtures and return to action
The under-21s are preparing for three crucial rounds, starting with matches against Al-Najma and Al-Taawoun on March 9 and March 15, before a Riyadh derby against Al-Hilal on April 6. The objective is to regain match fitness for Sami Al-Najai and to keep Nassr’s progression on track as the competition intensifies.
According to the Saudi daily Al-Riyadiyah, Al-Najai’s move to the U21 squad comes after his recent recovery from the ACL injury that sidelined him for most of the past year. He is expected to start for the U21 side against Al-Najma in round 18, with a plan to return to the first team after Eid al-Fitr.
Currently, Nassr’s U21 team sits in second place with 34 points, four points behind the leaders Al-Hilal, and level on goal difference with Al-Ettifaq who occupy the third spot with a game in hand. Fans can watch the U21 league live via STC TV by signing up now.
“If comebacks came with a soundtrack, Sami’s would be a remix of ‘ACL Not Anymore’—and yes, the crowd would still cheer.”
“In football, timing is everything; Nassr just assigned Sami a VIP pass to the rhythm section—the rest is just a warm-up for the main act.”
