Round 7 Wrap-Up: No Draws, Just Deliveries
The excitement continued on the second and final day of the seventh round of the Oman Pro League this evening, as the round closed without a single draw, with Al-Nasr and Al-Nahda both keeping clean sheets.
Bahla edged Ibri 3-2 at the Al-Buraimi Complex Stadium, lifting their points to 12 in fifth place, while Ibri lingered on one point in 13th.
Sohar earned an important 2-1 win over Oman Club, raising their tally to 13 in third, while Oman remained on 10 in sixth. Sohar's Amer Kanani scored the two goals for the winner; Hosni Al-Hinai scored for Oman.
Seeb continued their strong run, routing Saham 5-1 to stretch their lead to 16 points atop the standings, while Saham remained on 10 in seventh.
Goals were also plentiful on the first day of the round, with four matches delivering 11 goals, taking the round total to 25 at an average of 3.6 per game, as Nahda beat Rustaq 1-0, Dhofar defeated Sur 3-2, Al Khaboura fell to Nasr 0-1, and Shabab lost to Sama'il 1-3.
Family goal from the Shukili brothers
The goal carnival began in the Bahla- Ibri match with a family goal in the 16th minute as Abdul Salam Al Shukili showed supreme skill on the left, delivering a low cross for his brother Majed to finish.
Ibri equalized in the 23rd minute from a high cross that found the head of Jackson Bisan, who slammed it home to make it 1-1 and set the stage for a dramatic half.
The second half saw Bahla press on; Abdul Salam Al Shukili struck again in the 70th minute with a solo run and a back-heel finish, before adding a third in the 73rd after a counter-attack that put the result beyond doubt.
Bisan then reduced the deficit for Ibri with his second in the 86th minute after a defensive error, but Bahla held on to claim a crucial 3-point haul.
Easy mission, brutal scoreline
The Seeb vs Saham game was all about Seeb's early dominance: Mohamed Ramadan opened with a powerful headed goal from a 5th-minute cross, and Abdul Aziz Al-Moqbali doubled the lead after a brilliant run and cross by Zahir Al-Aghbari in the 9th minute.
The third goal came from Al-Aghbari again, a long-range strike that wrong-footed the goalkeeper in the 31st minute, sending the first half to a stinging end for Saham. Seeb then slowed in the second half, but the damage was done as Saham pursued a miracle.
The fourth goal arrived in the 79th minute from Abdul Majeed Al Balushi, who finished off a tight move after dribbling past a couple of defenders. The fifth and final goal came in the 89th minute from Marwan Taieb after a wide build-up from Nasser Al-Rawahi, sealing an emphatic 5-1 victory for Seeb.
ROUND SUMMARY: A night of goals as Seeb surged and Bahla found late equality, while Sohar and Oman Club offered mixed fortunes for the chase pack. If this pace continues, the title race will be a sprint to the finish line—no slow burns allowed in Oman’s top flight.
Punchline time: If this round were a rifle, it would be a sniper’s dream—every shot lands, every pass is precise, and somehow the net keeps a better aim than my TV remote. And just to prove me right: the next matchday will probably feature so many goals that even the scoreboard will file a complaint for feeling overloaded.
Punchline 2: My fantasy league team is officially on a roll—mostly because the only thing slipping more than the defense is my coffee as I try to stay awake for kickoffs.
