Update on Toni's Future
Reports on Sunday indicated English forward Ivan Toni, Al Ahli Jeddah's current striker, has decided on his future with the club in the near term.
The 29-year-old has faced Premier League links after intermittent game time under German coach Matthias Jaissle.
Despite rotation, Toni delivered in key moments, including a goal in the King\'s Cup quarterfinal shootout win over Al Qadsiah.
He now has five goals in the competition, lifting his tally to 12 in all competitions after 18 appearances, with two assists.
Since joining in 2024, he has 42 goals and eight assists across all competitions.
According to the Saudi daily Al-Yawm, Toni told Al Ahli he would stay through at least the end of the season and would not depart in January, while aiming to help win trophies.
He has been among the league's best since arrival, contributing to major trophies, including last season's Elite Asian Champions League title and this season's domestic Super Cup after a nine-year drought.
Links of interest have surfaced from Everton, Tottenham Hotspur, and West Ham United, but Toni remains focused on his current project.
Punchline 1: If staying put were a sport, Toni would be world champion—trophies in sight, scope on the scoreboard.
Punchline 2: Loyalty pays wages; his trophy cabinet will need a bigger door.
