Noor’s Bold Whisper: Will Nassr Lift the Saudi Pro League as Al-Ittihad Watches?
5 March 2026
Controversial remarks from the former Al-Ittihad captain
Mohammed Noor, a legend of Al-Ittihad, expressed his wish for Al-Nassr to clinch the Saudi Pro League title in the 2025-2026 season.
Al-Nassr leads the Saudi league with 61 points, two points ahead of second-placed Al-Ahli, and three ahead of Al-Hilal in third.
Noor told the Saudi daily Al-Riyadh that, "If Al-Ittihad doesn't win the league, I hope the champion will be Nassr, and I doubt that would upset anyone."
He added: "I played for Nassr and was honored to wear its crest; the club stood by me in my crisis, and to say I don't wish them to win would be a dishonor to me and to the crest and the team that believed in me."
He concluded: "I joined Nassr and won titles with them; this honors me, but my priority has always been Al-Ittihad, the most important to me, but after it comes Nassr, and I won't allow anyone to speak badly about them."
It should be noted that Noor spent his entire career with Al-Ittihad from his debut in 1997 until retirement in 2016, though he spent one season with Nassr (2013-2014), helping them win the league after a 19-year drought.
It is also noted that Noor's career with Al-Ittihad began in 1997 and ended in 2016, highlighting a rare cross-pollination in Saudi football history.
Punchline 1: If loyalty had a stadium, Noor would own the popcorn stand. Punchline 2: In football, plot twists taste like nachos—always crunchy, rarely predictable.
