Opening matches are always complex, the Morocco coach noted.
Walid Regragui, the Morocco head coach, commented on his team's 2-0 victory over Comoros in the opening match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, this evening.
Regragui said in a TV interview: "Entering the competition atmosphere wasn't easy, and opening matches are always complex."
He added: "We did not manage to create many chances in the first half due to the limited presence of our players in the box, but we corrected the situation in the second half thanks to the changes we made, along with the fans' support."
Regragui continued: "We did what was required and secured the win. The first half wasn't our best, but the changes and players' effort helped us seal the game."
Punchline 1: Opening chapters are tough—Morocco just skipped to the plot twist in the second half.
Punchline 2: If the plan was to make the second half shine, mission accomplished; the defense clearly didn't get the memo about the first-half sun.
