Pedri Sparks a Tactical Reset: Barca’s Bold Shuffle vs Newcastle in Champions League
10 March 2026
Barcelona lineup changes for the Newcastle clash
In the build-up to the Champions League last-16 first leg at St James' Park, Hans Flick announced Barcelona's official lineup against Newcastle tonight.
The German coach made several changes from the Bilbao win, with Barca taking the field at San Mamés in a 1-0 La Liga victory previously.
A late injury to right-back Eric Garcia forced Flick to rely on Ronald Araujo in defense.
In midfield, Flick will start with Marc Bernal and Pedri, with Rafinha, Vermin Lopez, and Lamine Yamal behind the veteran striker Robert Lewandowski.
Earlier in the week, Flick’s Bilbao selection featured Casado and Bernal in midfield, ahead of Olmo, Yamal, Rashford, and Ferran Torres in attack.

Punchline 1: Pedri’s dribbles are so slippery the ball needs a passport — Barca’s plan might slip past Newcastle anyway.
Punchline 2: With this many changes, the barber in the referee’s locker better bring a hairdryer—things are getting cut and pasted faster than a viral meme.
