Talae' El-Gaish celebrates reaching the Egypt Cup quarterfinals after a dramatic shootout.

Advancing to the Egypt Cup Quarterfinals

Talae' El-Gaish booked a spot in the Egypt Cup quarterfinals after beating Ismailia Electricity 4-2 on penalties following a 1-1 draw tonight, Saturday, at the Military Sports Authority Stadium in Cairo to open the Round of 16.

Mohammed Atif gave Talae' El-Gaish the lead in the 30th minute, while Abdullah Maradona equalized for Electricity in the 89th.

The match went to extra time and then to penalties, which sealed the win for the Army side under coach Jumaa Mashhour against Electricity Ismailia, coached by Reda Shatta.

Talae' El-Gaish will await the winner of Ceramica Cleopatra against the winner of Zamalek vs Al-Mahalla Municipality.

The Round of 16 continues on Sunday, with the Bank of Egypt meeting Enppi and Haras El Hodoud facing Smouha.

Later, the Round of 16 will also feature ZED FC against Al-Masry, Ceramica Cleopatra versus the Zamalek-Belediya Al-Mahalla winner, and El Gouna meeting Pyramids.

Punchline 1: And that, folks, is football: when the crowd goes quiet, the penalties do the talking. Punchline 2: If penalties were a video game, Talae' El-Gaish just unlocked the boss level and saved the day.
