PSG Seeks Delay Ahead of Liverpool Clash
Paris Saint-Germain has formally requested the postponement of their Ligue 1 meeting with Lens, placing it between the home-and-away legs of the Champions League quarterfinal against Liverpool.
PSG are set to visit Lens in a top-of-the-table clash on Saturday, April 11, a date that comes three days after hosting Arne Slot's side and three days before the return leg at Anfield, while Liverpool prepare to face Fulham in the English Premier League on the same day.
Lens, chasing their first league title since 1998, issued an official response to PSG's postponement request to the French Professional League, voicing strong opposition to what they described as a worrying prospect if the game is moved.
In their statement, Lens argued that the domestic league risks gradually slipping into a system that adapts to European ambitions, insisting the issue goes beyond this single match and touches on the respect owed to the competition itself.
The club concluded: One might ask when this domestic league will stop being treated as secondary to other ambitions, however legitimate they may be.
Lens currently sit second, one point behind PSG; coach Pierre Sagy said after a 5-1 win over Angers on Sunday that his side does not agree with the postponement.
The team coached by Luis Enrique had a weekend break between the Champions League ties against Chelsea after postponing their match with Nantes on a similar request, with the European champions advancing 8-2 on aggregate.
The final decision remains in the hands of the Ligue Professionnelle de Football, which backs French clubs participating in European competitions.
The league also confirmed that Strasbourg requested a postponement of its match with Brest in the same weekend because it lay between Mainz's Europa Conference League ties.

Punchline: If calendars had a sense of humor, this one would be wearing a PSG jersey and cheering for extra minutes to rest the squad before Liverpool.
Punchline 2: If postponements were a sport, PSG would have a shelf full of trophies and a calendar full of excuses.
