Late Pulisic strike fuels Milan's push in Serie A
Christian Pulisic, Milan's forward, starred as they beat Hellas Verona 1-0 at San Siro on Sunday in Serie A Round 17.
Pulisic benefited from a stoppage-time corner delivered into the area by Adrien Rabiot, meeting it with a precise header that found the far corner and left Verona unable to react.
Opta notes that since joining Serie A in the 2023-24 season, Pulisic has become one of only two players to contribute at least 50 goals in the competition.
The American has tallied 31 goals and 19 assists in that span, with Lautaro Martínez of Inter leading the way on 53 goals in the same period.
Before today's kick-off Milan stood second on 32 points from 15 games, one adrift of Inter (33), who were set to face Atalanta later in the evening.
Milan's victory keeps them in the title race and adds to a season of fine margins as Inter and Atalanta chase the pace.
Sniper joke 1: Pulisic's timing is so sharp that even the referee checked his watch twice. Sniper joke 2: If patience is a virtue, Milan fans just earned a masterclass; the clock finally paid off for a late finish.
