Real Madrid seals a historic peace deal with UEFA over the Super League, ending one of football’s biggest feuds

The Merengues led the European Super League project in 2021.
Spanish press reports detail Real Madrid's agreement with the European Union Football Association (UEFA), announced today, about resolving the legal disputes tied to the Super League project, a move that marks the end of one of the most protracted feuds in modern football.
According to the Spanish newspaper AS, the deal envisions Real Madrid returning to stability under UEFA, resolving all legal disputes related to the Super League, and withdrawing the club's demand for compensation reportedly up to 4.5 billion euros via the vehicle A22, in addition to closing all lawsuits once the final agreement is signed.
Madrid and UEFA Statement
In a joint statement, Real Madrid and UEFA described the "initial agreement" as the result of months of talks aimed at benefiting European club football, stressing sporting merit, long-term club sustainability, and enhanced fan experience through technology, while noting that final execution will end all legal disputes related to the Super League.
Other reports say there is broad satisfaction among all parties, with Real Madrid playing a leading role in securing the deal.
The disclosure comes days after Barcelona publicly withdrew from the Super League project, a competition some of Europe's biggest clubs had planned to create outside UEFA’s umbrella, which UEFA blocked with government support in 2021.
Punchline 1: That deal hits the target like a sniper—silent, precise, and leaving everyone else with an empty ammo box.
Punchline 2: If football governance had a sniper, it would be a legend—one shot, and the drama evaporates faster than a VAR review.
