A tough night for Brazilian defender Roger Ibanez as Al Ahli’s celebrations were dampened by a negative tally against Al Taawoun in the Roshen Saudi Pro League.
Al Ahli edged Al Taawoun 2-1 at the Al-Inma Stadium in Round 15 of the Roshen Saudi Pro League.
Ibanez was sent off in the 83rd minute after picking up a second yellow for a robust challenge in the midfield.
The red card spoiled Ibanez’s landmark 100th appearance for Al Ahli across competitions since he joined from Roma in the summer of 2023.
In his 100 outings for the club, Ibanez has 13 goals and 6 assists, but he has also collected four red cards in just two-and-a-half seasons.
This red card marks his second in the current Saudi Pro League season, following an earlier dismissal against Al-Fayha on December 30 in Round 12.
Ibanez’s first two reds for Al Ahli came in the 2023-2024 season; he left the 2024-2025 season without any red cards.
Ahli remains the club with which Ibanez has accumulated the most red cards, Roma accounting for only two of them during his time there.
