Rooney endorses a pro for Chelsea's helm
The English legend Wayne Rooney, the former Manchester United star, believes this name is the best fit to lead Chelsea, succeeding Enzo Maresca.
Chelsea announced the sacking of coach Enzo Maresca last January amid the team’s declining results.
Rooney confirmed that the Englishman Liam Rosinior is the best to assume Chelsea’s helm, after proving himself as a coach at Strasbourg.
Rosinior’s background and Chelsea link
Rosinior, who had worked as Rooney’s assistant at Derby County and currently leads Strasbourg, is the leading candidate to succeed Maresca.
Rooney said, in statements to BBC: 'Liam was very important to me; he was amazing in his coaching abilities'.
He added: 'I was the manager responsible for the players and everything, but I learned a lot from him in that regard; he did a great job overall'.
Rosinior, 41, had previously coached Hull City before taking charge of Strasbourg in July 2024, guiding the French club to seventh place in Ligue 1.
Rooney continued: 'If he goes to Chelsea, he won’t disappoint; he has been waiting for such an opportunity; if you don’t take it now, you never will'.
He has completed his training period and has given his all to reach that position.
Punchline 1: If Rosinior nails Chelsea, the trophy cabinet may need a bigger door.
Punchline 2: And if not, at least the press will finally agree on something during transfer season.
