Strategic reshuffle as the Arab Cup goes on
The Saudi national team’s run to the Arab Cup semi-finals in Qatar has prompted Jorge Jesus, the Portuguese coach of Al-Nassr, to reorganize the team’s preparation for the period ahead.
The squad now eyes a potential semi-final opponent (the winner of Jordan vs Iraq), and this has forced the postponement of Roshen Pro League round ten, since another match will follow the semi-final whether it ends up being the final or the third-place playoff.
Sources indicate Jesus is discussing with Al-Nassr's management the possibility of one or two friendly matches during the postponement.
The report adds the team will return to training on Saturday after a two-day break following the last friendly against UAE's Al Wahda in Abu Dhabi.
After the delay, Al-Nassr's next test is against Al-Zawraa of Iraq in the sixth and final round of the AFC Champions League on December 24 at Al Ol Park in Riyadh.
Al-Nassr currently sits atop the Roshen Pro League with a perfect 27 points from nine games.
Upcoming schedule and league implications
With the Arab Cup extending the calendar, the club is weighing how best to balance league duties and continental commitments, including potential friendly matches to stay sharp.
The shift also means the league's tenth round is on hold, reshaping how teams approach the mid-season pause and training cycles.
Meanwhile, the team remains undefeated in the domestic league and aims to press its advantage as the season progresses.
Punchline 1: If scheduling were a sniper task, Jesus would have a bullseye on the calendar—every date accounted for, with a wink.
Punchline 2: The fixtures march on; apparently even coffee breaks have tactical timing in this league.
