Al-Ahli Dominate January Awards in Roshen Saudi League
Notable results propelled Al-Ahli Jeddah to claim two of three monthly awards in January.
Saudi Pro League organizers announced on Saturday that German coach Matias Jaissle of Al-Ahli Jeddah won the Best Coach award for January.
Jaissle steered the side to a perfect seven wins from seven matches this month, beating the likes of Al-Nassr, Al-Akhdood, Al-Ta'awon, Al-Khulood, Al-Khaleej, Neom and Al-Ettifaq.
Those results helped push Al-Ahli to third place in the Saudi League table on 43 points, just behind second-placed Al-Nassr on goal difference and three behind leaders Al-Hilal.
Meanwhile English striker Ivan Tony, also of Al-Ahli Jeddah, was named January's Player of the Month after his standout seven-match run.
Tony struck 12 goals in those seven matches, including a hat-trick against Al-Khaleej and another against Al-Ettifaq.
He now sits atop the season's scoring chart on 18 goals, one ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo and Julian Quinones, the stars of Al-Nassr and Al-Qadisiyah.
The Best Goalkeeper award went to Belgian keeper Koen Castiles of Al-Qadisiyah for his eye-catching displays this month.
During the month, Castiles featured in all seven matches for Al-Qadisiyah, keeping two clean sheets and conceding six goals.
