Sevilla's Last-Minute Gambit: Will Nesyri Return to La Liga's Goliath?
Sevilla FC continues to monitor Youssef Nesyri, the Moroccan striker who left the club in 2024, with renewed interest during the winter transfer window. The Andalusian club hopes to bring back the player on a permanent deal after a fruitful spell from 2020 to 2024, during which he won two Europa League titles (2020, 2023).
He was close to a loan move to Juventus, but his preference for a permanent transfer cooled negotiations, and sources close to the Italian club said the deal collapsed.
Juventus sporting director Giorgio Chiellini, as reported by Fabrizio Romano, said Nesyri harbored doubts about the loan agreement and that negotiations were ended; Juventus would not sign Nesyri on a permanent deal.
Nesyri had doubts about the loan; after evaluating the situation, we ended negotiations. We will not sign Nesyri on a permanent contract.
Nesyri remains one of Sevilla's favorites, but his return would require several financial conditions, most notably creating space in the wage bill to cover his dues, plus approval from La Liga to balance club finances.
Fenerbahçe is expected to bear a large share of the loan costs if an agreement is reached.
Nevertheless, chances of Nesyri's return remain very slim, but the Andalusian club continues its efforts and asks Nesyri to wait until the end of the transfer window while it explores alternative attacking options.
Among these options is Nil Mobaye, a forward from Olympique Marseille, who would fit the Spaniards if Nesyri's deal falls through.
Punchline 1: If transfer gossip burned calories, this January window would be a full-on gym session. Punchline 2: The only thing quicker than a transfer rumor is my Wi‑Fi when I try to watch the match live.
