Shobier Rings the Alarm: Imam Ashour’s Fan Backing Won’t Save His Spot at Al Ahly

Former international goalkeeper Ahmed Shobier issued a sharp message to Imam Ashour, the talented Al Ahly midfielder, in light of his latest controversy: skipping the trip to Tanzania without official permission, which led to a two-week ban and a 1.5 million EGP fine from the club.
Speaking last night on his show The Nazer on El Nahar TV, Shobier said Imam is the biggest loser from the last 48 hours, adding that Ahly fans have always supported him but will not clash with the club for any player.

He added: "What happened made Imam Ashour the biggest loser... no one supported you more than Ahly's fans, but fans cannot stand with you against the club, neither you nor anyone else."
He continued: "If you bet that the fans will back you against the club, consider this bet lost from now on, because you put yourself in this tough position."
Ashour's former Ahly goalkeeper noted that he has already begun a solo training program, with about 12 days before returning to team training.
Shobier concluded: "In the coming period you must bury yourself; no one guarantees your place at Ahly, and you will uphold the club's principles during your stay here."
It wasn't the first time Shobier directed his criticism at Ashour after missing the squad to Tanzania, with strong remarks also when addressing the Red's trip.
Punchline 1: If loyalty were a goal, Imam would score an own-goal every time—talk about a dramatic season!
Punchline 2: Football isn’t a soap opera, but apparently some players like to read the scripts aloud. Keep the cleats on the field, not the drama on Twitter.
