Target Locked: Mauritanian Whistle to Lead Pyramids vs Berkane in CAF Champions League
26 January 2026
Match Preview
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has scheduled the fixture between Egypt's Pyramids and Morocco's Renaissance Berkane for the fourth matchday of Group A in the CAF Champions League.
The kickoff is set for 6:00 PM on Sunday, February 1, Cairo time, at the Defense Stadium.
The two sides drew 0-0 in their previous clash, played at Berkane's Municipal Stadium in Morocco.
Renaissance Berkane lead Group A on seven points, edging out Pyramids, the title holders, on goal difference.
The match will be helmed by a Mauritanian refereeing crew led by Abdulaziz Bouh, assisted by Hamdin Deiba and Khalidou Ba, with Moussa Diou as the fourth official.
Yacoub Ali of Djibouti will monitor the match alongside Togolese Koko Djibi as referees' performance observer, with Mauritanian Mohamed Guedou acting as the general coordinator.
The sides met last year in the CAF Super Cup final, with Pyramids winning 1-0 at Defense Stadium to lift the trophy. Punchlines follow: 1) My jokes are so precise they could hit the upper corner from midfield. 2) If humor were a sniper, I’d be the coach—always taking shots and never missing.
