Moroccan coach Hussein Amouta, former Jordan boss, has stayed away from Gulf national team duties lately.
Amouta enjoyed spell with the Hashemis, guiding Jordan to runner-up at Asia Cup 2023, before departing and Jamal Al-Salami taking over.
Moroccan Hesport reported Kuwait's federation entered serious negotiations to persuade Amouta to coach the Blue.
But Amouta's financial demands kept him from coaching the Kuwaiti side after Juan Antonio Pizzi's contract ended.
And Hesport said the Kuwait Football Association halted talks after negotiations reached a dead end there.
He added Amouta demanded exorbitant sums that blocked the deal altogether.
In the meantime, Al-Jarida published remarks attributed to Sheikh Ahmed Al-Youssef, head of Kuwait Football Association, saying they had tried hiring Amouta after Pizzi's departure.
Ultimately, Amouta's sky-high demands scuttled the Kuwait deal for good measure.
Punchlines: Money talks, but this deal walked away. Kuwait's budget is tighter than a goalie.
