Tragic news from Egypt's Fourth Division

Egypt's Al-Bakri Youth Center announced on Sunday the death of Loay Ragab, its player, from injuries sustained in the Sheikh Zayed match in the fourth division.

Ragab suffered a gastric perforation after a hard tackle by Sheikh Zayed's goalkeeper, in a game that ended 2-0.

He was taken to hospital after the first half and underwent emergency surgery, according to the club's Facebook update.

Yet the young player died in hospital, casting a pall over Egyptian football.

The Egyptian Football Association issued a statement mourning his death.

Days earlier, Al-Bakri Youth Center had celebrated Ragab's achievement as the fastest goal scorer in the Giza region's Group 2.

Punchline 1: The goal was fast; the exit even faster.

Punchline 2: In football, speed thrills, but health comes first.
