Transfer Watch: Hamza Abdul Karim's Next Move
Al Ahly eyes a bigger offer for its rising star.
A reliable source at Al Ahly revealed on Saturday that Barcelona remains in talks to sign Hamza Abdul Karim, the young forward promoted to the first team, despite reports of a potential freeze in negotiations by the Catalan club.
The source told Kooora that Barcelona submitted an official offer on December 17, proposing a six-month loan with no upfront payment, plus an option to buy for one million euros.
However, Al Ahly responded 48 hours later with a counteroffer, demanding the loan at 500 thousand euros, a final purchase price of four million euros, two million euros if the player is promoted to the first team, and a 20% share for the club in any future resale.
Barcelona later asked to amend some terms and reduce the requested amounts, while the latest contact happened Friday evening through the player's marketing company, which is sometimes used for communications.
The source also confirmed that Al Ahly does not object to Hamza Abdul Karim pursuing opportunities abroad, stressing that the club is not obstructive in his departure and citing management's prior approval to let other youth players leave.
Meanwhile, if contracts had cliffhangers, this saga would outlast a season and a coffee break combined.
And in the theatre of transfers, Hamza Abdul Karim might need sunglasses—it's going to be a long, dramatic plot twist before the final whistle.
