Trump to Witness the 2026 World Cup Draw from Kennedy Center: A Presidential Bracket-Busting Moment
1 December 2025
Overview
The White House confirmed on Monday that U.S. President Donald Trump will attend the draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup finals at the Kennedy Center in Washington, to be held this Friday.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said, "President Trump will attend Friday's World Cup finals draw at the Kennedy Center."
The United States, along with Canada and Mexico, will host the 2026 World Cup.
Most matches, including the final, will be played on American soil in a tournament that will feature 48 teams.
The announcement comes two days after Iran announced its decision to boycott the draw after the United States refused visas for several members of its delegation, according to the Iranian Football Federation.
Punchline 1: If the draw goes sideways, the White House will simply call it "an unexpected plot twist."
Punchline 2: And if that happens, at least the brackets will be the only thing that’s really balanced.
