A message of unity between Egypt and Morocco
Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhi and his Moroccan counterpart Mohamed Saad Barada spoke by phone to reaffirm the deep historical and fraternal ties linking the two nations.
They said the relationship stretches across decades of cooperation and joint effort in various fields, with youth and sport at the forefront, stressing that sporting competitions must stay within a civilized framework based on mutual respect and sportsmanship.
The call came as part of ongoing coordination and a shared commitment to calm the sporting atmosphere among fans, affirming that sport is a bridge that brings peoples closer, not a source of dispute, and that it is a soft power that strengthens ties and fosters regional cooperation.
Sobhi also praised Morocco’s hosting of the Africa Cup of Nations, pledging rejection of any displays of fanaticism or remarks that could harm the strong relations between the two sister nations or tarnish the image of Arab fans.
In turn, the Moroccan minister valued the ongoing dialogue, stressing that Atlas Lions value the strategic links with Egypt and that Rabat is keen to back all initiatives that promote Arab brotherhood and positive values among youth.
