Three Weak Spots in Nasr's Lineup
Former star Abdu Atif says Al Nassr is struggling with quality in three positions, and that winning AFC Champions League 2 won't satisfy fans.
Nasr enters AFC CL 2 this season after failing to cement a place among Asia's elite. The Yellow Army won away at Arkadag in the Round of 16 and now prepares for the return at Al Ow Park.
Gaps, Rotations and the Asia 2 Goal
Atif told Al Arabiya that the gaps between Nasr and rivals are clear, and that coach Jesus is giving minutes to bench players to prepare them.
He added there are worrying spots in Nasr's squad; for example, changes at the full-back positions show the coach is seeking fixes in these two spots.
The former international star also noted that the quality at the full-backs and the No. 8 for Nasr is lower than in other positions.
He insisted that AFC Champions League 2 should be Nasr's goal given the gaps; even the second unit for Nasr outshines the rivals.
Yet he concluded that the tournament alone won't satisfy Nasr fans who want the league title or the elite of the Pro League.
Punchline 1: If Nasr keeps rotating full-backs like a fashion show, the crowd will applaud the substitutes.
Punchline 2: In Asia Cup 2, even the ball seems to need three substitutions before finding the back of the net.
