When Legends Collide: Ronaldo to Al Hilal Could Redefine the Saudi League
1 February 2026
Ronaldo's Potential Move and the Legend's Wish
Mohamed Al-Deayea, the former Al Hilal goalkeeper, publicly expressed his wish for the club to sign Cristiano Ronaldo, the captain of Al Nassr, arguing the team needs a striker who can finish even when chances are scarce.
Ronaldo has been the Saudi Pro League's top scorer in the last two seasons and is currently second with 17 goals, trailing Ivan Toni of Al Ahli by a single goal.
He has reached 961 career goals and would need 39 more to reach the 1000-goal milestone.
Deayea's Perspective and The Big Question
In an appearance on the Saudi show "Dourina Ghair," Deayea said, "If I had to choose between letting Nuñez and Marcus Leonardo depart or Ronaldo joining Al Hilal, I would pick Ronaldo, the all-time top scorer, without hesitation."
He added: "Al Hilal needs a forward who can score from limited chances, and Ronaldo has that ability—the evidence is his 961 goals, and he never seems to be satisfied."
Further, he noted: "If you watch Ronaldo's goals for Al Nassr, all of them were inside the box, just as Aleksandar Mitrovic used to do with us, and that's exactly what the club needs now."
On the 1000-goal milestone, Deayea said: "He certainly has the power to reach it, but achieving it in this season is unlikely."
He concluded: "From my view, Ronaldo has helped raise the Saudi league's profile worldwide because of his impact; he is the number one star in football."
Punchline: If Ronaldo moves to the moon, the moon will finally have a striker who can score from a crater. Punchline 2: If humor were penalties, I would put Ronaldo in the top corner—now that would be a goal worth watching.
