Jesus Demands Gharib's Contract Extension

Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus, head coach of Al-Nassr, has kept Abdulrahman Gharib firmly in the squad’s plans as the player enters the final stretch of his contract.

Several Roshen Saudi League clubs have expressed interest in signing him since he entered the 'free period'—the last six months of his deal—with top targets including Al-Hilal.

Earlier reports suggested he would consider a move to Al-Hilal if a suitable bid did not arrive from Al-Nassr.

Gharib’s Departure Interest

Earlier, the Middle East newspaper Al-Sharq Al-Awsat reported that Gharib submitted a request to leave Al-Nassr during the summer transfer window to seek a new challenge and more playing time.

Gharib has logged 367 minutes across 11 appearances this season in all competitions, scoring 3 goals and providing 4 assists.

Overall, he has appeared 109 times for Al-Nassr in all competitions, scoring 17 goals and making 27 assists.

Gharib is regarded as one of the league’s top playmakers in recent years, excelling with his left-wing creativity and threat creation.

In 2023-24 he established himself among the elite, leading Saudi players with 11 assists.

Training Camp in the UAE

Beyond that, Jesus ordered eight days of rest for the squad after the victory over Istiklol of Tajikistan in the AFC Champions League group stage.

Nassr will hold two training sessions in Riyadh on December 5 and 6, before heading to the UAE on December 7 for a five-day camp to make the most of the domestic break.

The squad will travel without six international players—Nawaf Al-Qaidi, Nawaf Boshel, Abdulilah Al-Omari, Ayman Yahya, Abdullah Al-Khaibri, and Raghad Al-Najjar—who were called up to the Saudi squad for the 2025 Arab Cup in Qatar.

Domestic fixtures will pause for 28 days, with Nassr scheduled to return to league duties on December 21 to face Al-Najma.

On the flip side, the timeline suggests the club might float serious offers, while fans joke that Gharib's contract is longer than some seasons.

If contracts were coffee, this window would be a triple espresso.
