Wydad were eliminated in the quarterfinals by Olympique Safi, drawing 1-1 away and 2-2 at home, meaning Safi advanced on aggregate.
The club’s press outlet, Al-Betoula, said the decision followed the African setback.
A formal statement on Benhaashim’s departure was expected in the coming hours.
