When the Transfer Talk Hits the Fan: Klopp Calls Out Real Madrid Rumors and Keeps Coaching, Not Retirement

Klopp responds to virtual Real Madrid contact rumors, insists he hasn't retired
The German coach Jürgen Klopp, head of football for Red Bull's global group, addressed persistent rumors linking him with Real Madrid and delivered a firm denial.
Speaking at an event in Munich, Klopp said it's okay to discuss the topic, but he questioned the source of these reports and asked when a rumor becomes news.
The former Liverpool boss joked about a hypothetical phone call: "What if Real Madrid called? Imagine that call from Florentino Pérez: Do you think you would be interested?" He stressed that no contact has ever been made with him or his agent, and that speculation should not be treated as fact.
The German coach added that, whether the chatter involves chemistry with AI-generated coverage or simply a wild rumor, this nonsense annoys him and requires a response.
He concluded with a firm denial: "If Real Madrid had really contacted me, it would have come out eventually." He insisted that neither he nor his agent has been approached by Madrid and warned against taking every rumor at face value.

He added: "Imagine how long this has lasted; I might even coach Atlético Madrid at the same time—perhaps we should ask serious questions about this properly."
He dismissed other rumors about his future, such as links to the German national team, noting there is currently no reason to consider such moves and, for now, no retirement plans. He also hinted that time could bring changes, but there are no concrete plans today.
The coach wrapped up with a light laugh: "Madrid, you must call me first if you want to hear more from me."
Punchline 1: Real Madrid calling? My agent screens rumors with more filters than VAR has reviews.
Punchline 2: Retirement? Not today—I'm chasing the next press conference like a winger chasing a through ball.
