When Tickets Go Missing: Morocco Unmasks a Sneaky AFCON Ticket Scam
23 December 2025
Overview
Investigative police services, under the General Security Directorate, have opened judicial inquiries to probe eight individuals suspected of illegally speculating on tickets for the Africa Cup of Nations, currently being held in the Kingdom of Morocco these days.
According to security sources, vigilance services detected posts on social networks advertising tickets for sale in violation of the law, prompting technical and field investigations that helped identify the suspects involved and their networks.
Operations conducted in Rabat, Temara, Agadir, Salé, Marrakesh, and Mohammedia led to the apprehension of the suspects, who remain in judicial detention under the oversight of competent public prosecutors to uncover other involved parties and the motives behind these cases.
Authorities had already received numerous complaints from Moroccan and foreign fans attending the CAN, who faced price hikes that left many seats empty in several matches, and other related cases.
Ticket scalping? Nice try—justice blows the whistle, not the nose.
If fans were tickets, we’d all get in—greed’s a bad seat.
