Youth Firepower: The Under-21 Top Scorer Duel Heats Up the Elite League
8 February 2026
Round 14 fuels the U21 top-scorer chase
The race for the top scorer in the Elite Under-21 League has heated up as Jalal Al-Salem of Al-Ettifaq and Asim Mohammed of Al-Nassr shone on Matchday 14. On Sunday, February 8, Round 14 opened with several tense fixtures, led by Al-Ettifaq’s 3-2 victory over Al-Najma.
Al-Salem, nicknamed the Commando, struck twice in the 78th and 89th minutes to push his tally to 10 goals, tying him with Bassem Al-Areini of Al-Taawon at the summit.
The drama continued when Asim Mohammed scored in Al-Nassr's 5-0 win over Al-Wehda, bringing him level with the leaders.
Monday’s schedule will see the remaining fixtures of Round 14, with Al-Areini perhaps testing Neom’s defense to reclaim the lead. Ammar Al-Ghamdi of Al-Ittihad remains in the mix with 8 goals, alongside Abdullah Al-Ajeian who recently joined Al-Khould.
The top-scorer race is alive and well, and this round’s results hint at more fireworks to come.
Punchline 1: If goals were sniper shots, these two would have a lifetime supply of headshots for the goalkeeper.
Punchline 2: In this league, even the scoreboard needs a chiropractor after watching these two light up Round 14.
