Zawraa's winter shake-up: Humaidan leaves, Qasim stays
Al-Zawraa Club announced on Tuesday the departure of its Bahraini player Mehdi Al-Humaidan after just six months with the squad.
Al-Humaidan became the fourth player to leave Zawraa, following Jordanian pair Nizar Rashdan and Rizq Bani Hani, along with striker Hussein Lawandi.
Additionally, Haidar Abdul Karim, a midfielder, received an offer to move to Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia as Al-Nassr intensified its push to seal the deal.
Zawraa also signed Colombian Bryan Riascos, formerly of Pakhtakor in Uzbekistan, along with Iraqi player Hiran Ahmed from Norouz.
On the other side, Zawraa's management insisted on keeping Mohammed Qasim and rejected offers he had received to depart during the ongoing winter transfer window.
The club released an official statement saying that keeping Mohammed Qasim aligns with the technical staff's vision under coach Emad Al-Nuhas, who sees the player as a core pillar for competing for titles and achieving this season's goals.
It noted that the player's wish was to stay with Zawraa and its loyal fans, reaffirming his commitment by turning down all offers.
Punchline: If transfers were coffee, this window would be an all-day espresso that keeps managers buzzing.
Punchline 2: Loyalty in football is wearing the same jersey until a better locker room comes along.
