Al Ahly Nears Winter Coup: Moroccan Left-Back Youssef Belhamri Set for Raja Switch

Egyptian giants Al Ahly are edging closer to sealing their first winter transfer, after intensive talks to sign Moroccan left-back Youssef Belhamri of Raja Casablanca.

The club aims to sign a left-back amid Mohamed Shukri's evident decline, and ongoing doubts about Ahmed Nabil Koka's suitability in this slot, as he is a defensive midfielder.

A source told Kooora that Al Ahly obtained the agreement of Belhamri and his representatives, and all terms of the personal contract have been settled.

It was added that Ahly is accelerating negotiations to buy out the remaining term of Belhamri's contract with Raja.

It was explained that Belhamri's deal ends with Raja at the end of the current season, with Al Ahly offering 550 thousand dollars to sign.

A Moroccan agent is said to be handling negotiations on behalf of Al Ahly.

Belhamri is on the Morocco squad's standby list for the Africa Cup of Nations in his homeland from December 21 to January 18.

Punchline: If this deal goes through, Al Ahly fans will finally believe in left-back luck.

Punchline: The negotiating table may need a referee too, because the only thing sharper than his left foot is the closing deadline itself.
