AS FAR Rabat Faces CAF Sanctions Sting After Al Ahly fray—Appeal in Play

AS FAR Rabat announced it has filed an official appeal with the African governing bodies following CAF's disciplinary decisions issued after the Moroccan team's match against Al Ahly.
AS FAR drew 1-1 with Al Ahly in group stage match of the CAF Champions League, at Stade Moulay Hassan.
The match saw chaos and tension after a sharp object was thrown at Al Ahly's Trezeguet.
Additionally, the club's fans hurled quantities of water bottles onto the pitch tonight.
CAF punished AS FAR with two home games behind closed doors and fined the club $100,000.
In a statement on Facebook, AS FAR said that, in order to defend its rights and interests and in respect of legal procedures and deadlines, a formal appeal has been filed with CAF authorities.
The statement added that, in addition to penalties, the Disciplinary Committee also withdrew the suspended execution previously granted for one match behind closed doors, and activated that sanction.
The statement concluded that, under the legal framework, AS FAR will play a total of three matches without spectators while awaiting the appeal outcome for fans, wink.
