Barca’s Bundesliga Bold Move: Barcelona Eyeing Dortmund’s Ryerson to Fortify the Back Line

Barcelona's Bundesliga target: reinforcing the back line
Barcelona has shifted its gaze toward the Bundesliga in recent weeks, aiming to bolster their defense with a Borussia Dortmund player.
Ryerson the target: a versatile and affordable option
According to Sky Sports, the club has zeroed in on Julian Ryerson, Dortmund's full-back, with the aim of securing his services.
Ryerson has drawn Barcelona's interest; the Spanish champions want to expand their defensive options and are seeking a cost-effective alternative to Jules Koundé.
Ryerson fits the brief perfectly, with the versatility to operate as both a left-back and a right-back.
The 28-year-old remains under contract with Dortmund through 2028, and Sky Sports reports that initial talks have already taken place with his camp.
It is likely the Norwegian will depart Dortmund if a strong offer arrives, as he no longer holds a guaranteed starter's role under coach Nico Kovac.
Since January 2023, Ryerson has worn Dortmund's yellow and black after joining from Union Berlin for five million euros, and he has appeared in 121 matches across all competitions, scoring seven goals and providing eleven assists.
And if he does sign, Barca better stock up on snacks for the bench—it's going to be a long season of perfectly aimed crosses and impeccable defense jokes. If not Ryerson, at least the club can say they’re serious about backline improvements—they won’t settle for a fortress with a revolving door policy!
