Barça edges Osasuna 2-0 as defense holds and Rafinha shines
Barcelona forward Gerard Martin said the 2-0 victory over Osasuna on Saturday night was not easy, given Osasuna’s compact defensive organization.
He told the Spanish newspaper AS that the task was difficult because Osasuna defended with a very tight block, making it hard to penetrate their lines; however, with patience and sustained possession, Barça managed to reach the target.
Martin added that keeping a clean sheet is always important as it provides stability. "We know goals will come, but the foundation is defensive solidity," he said.
Regarding his role on the pitch, Martin affirmed his readiness to play anywhere the team needs him. He also praised his teammates in the front line, especially Rafinha, who scored both goals, underscoring Barça’s strong attacking options.
With the victory, Barcelona’s points rose to 43, placing them at the top of La Liga, while Osasuna sit on 15 points in 16th place.
Punchline 1: If the defense could text, Barça’s backline would have sent a message that reads “No entry, all day, every day.”
Punchline 2: Rafinha’s two goals prove he can multitask—score, assist, and still have time to pick a win-shaped victory dance.
