Haras El Hodood advanced to the Egypt Cup quarterfinals with a dramatic 5-4 win on penalties over Smouha after a 1-1 draw today at the Border Stadium in Alexandria, in the Round of 16.

The opener came early, with Mohamed Hamdi Zaki scoring for Haras in the fifth minute.

The 80 minutes were tight; Mahmoud Oka squandered a clear chance for Haras before Babi Badji equalised for Smouha in the 85th.

The match stayed level through extra time and went to penalties. Haras converted through Mohamed Ashraf 'Roga', Fawzi Al-Hanafy, Ibrahim Abdel Hakim, Moamen Awad and Moataz Mohamed; Ahmed El-Sheikh missed.

Smouha replied with Khaled El-Ghandour, Samir Fekry, Amr El-Sisi and Babi Badji scoring; Ahmed Fawzi and Abdulrahman Amer missed.
