Four-Year CAS Ban, Heated Support, and a Family Tie: Ramadan Sobhi's Doping Case Unfolds

Ramadan Sobhi in the Midst of a CAS Doping Case
Ekramy El Shahat, the former Al Ahly goalkeeper, praised the support Ramadan Sobhi has received from Pyramids FC and Sobhi’s teammates as he faces a four-year suspension by the Court of Arbitration for Sport over allegations of tampering with a doping sample.
The court had ordered Sobhi jailed until December 30 pending the final ruling in the case accusing him of forging official documents after the arrest of a person who had impersonated him for exams.
Shahat told a TV interviewer that he is grateful to the owners of Pyramids for the strong backing, and that there is ongoing contact between Sobhi and club staff to back him through this difficult period.
He added that he also thanked Mahmoud El Khatib, the president of Al Ahly, for the club’s public statement of support, and Yassin Mansour, the club’s deputy chairman, for his stance as well.
Shahat explained that Sobhi’s mental state has begun to improve gradually after the initial shock, with visits allowed only for immediate family members.
He stressed that there is clear fan support across affiliations, and that Sobhi is currently in good spirits and appreciates everyone who stood by him during this period.
Punchline 1: If life gives you a four-year break, make it a comeback tour—with a better haircut and a stronger alibi.
Punchline 2: In football terms, a CAS pause is basically a long timeout; Ramadan Sobhi will be back, probably with more drama than a transfer deadline day.
