January Spotlight: Gyokeres Tops Arsenal’s Vote
Viktor Gyokeres, Arsenal’s Swedish striker, was named January Player of the Month after a string of eye-catching displays for the Gunners.
He scored four goals in his last six appearances, and Arsenal’s website confirmed he secured 48% of the fans’ votes, finishing ahead of Gabriel Jesus, Martinelli, and Martin Zubimendi for the award—his first since arriving in the summer.
Gyokeres began the hot streak with a goal against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg, and he also laid on a key assist for Martin Zubimendi at Stamford Bridge.
In the following week he struck again in San Siro, as Arsenal beat Inter Milan 3-1, before rounding off the month with a standout display against Leeds United and his best run in the Gunners’ shirt.
Arsenal’s momentum has coincided with Gyokeres’ smooth adaptation since his summer move, giving fans fresh optimism for the second half of the season.

Punchline 1: If goal-scoring were a language, Gyokeres would be fluent in it with a perfect accent.
Punchline 2: And if Arsenal win the league, the calendar will need a bigger trophy shelf and a translator for the celebrations.
