Injuries Strike Al Ahly Ahead of Egypt Cup Showdown
25 December 2025
Injuries Update
Al Ahly will be without a large number of players ahead of Saturday's Egypt Cup round-of-32 clash with We.
The missing trio includes Karim Fouad, Ahmed Abdel Qader, and Moroccan Ashraf Ben Sharqi due to injuries, while the statuses of Mohamed Magdy Afsha and Ahmed Ramadan Beckham remain uncertain because of muscle pains.
Beyond these, Al Ahly will also be without international players involved with Egypt at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, in addition to professional players.
Dr. Ahmed Gaballah, Al Ahly's physician, said in official statements that Beckham complained of lower back pain and was rested from today's training.
He added that Beckham underwent physiotherapy at the club's Nasr City branch and that his condition would be assessed to decide when he can rejoin group practice.
A source told Kooora that Taher Mohamed Taher and Mohamed Magdy Afsha have begun returning to training gradually after recovering from injuries, but their involvement in the We match will be decided on Friday.
The Reds' main training was held on Thursday at Nasr City's facilities, in preparation for the We match.
Punchline: If injuries were a sniper, they'd be missing every target—Al Ahly still aims for the Cup, with a patchwork lineup and a lot of luck.
Punchline 2: The Nasr City physio room has more visitors than the stands; at least the therapy is well attended.
