Injury blows hit Inter during Liverpool clash
Inter Milan's manager faced two painful setbacks during the clash with Liverpool on Tuesday at Giuseppe Meazza, in the Champions League group stage.
Within ten minutes, Turkish playmaker Hakan Calhanoglu picked up a muscle injury and could not continue, followed by another problem for veteran defender Francesco Acerbi after half an hour.
Inter were forced into two early substitutions, bringing Piotr Zielinski and Yan Bisek into the fray.
According to Sky Sport Italia, Calhanoglu endured a right thigh cramp, while Acerbi suffered a thigh strain.
Medical tests are set to determine the extent of the injuries and the length of any potential absence.
The duo's participation in the upcoming Serie A clash with Genoa is in serious doubt, and the Italian Super Cup in Saudi Arabia could also be at stake.
Further updates are expected as Inter's medical staff try to patch up two midfield pillars, while fans hope for a quick recovery and a swift mini-victory elsewhere tonight.
Punchline 1: If bad luck were an app, Inter would need a software update right now.
Punchline 2: And yes, the Meazza medical room is the busiest nightclub in town—lots of people, few players.
