Vitinha Saga: Al-Khelaifi Ends Madrid's Pursuit
Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has rejected talks with Real Madrid over the possible departure of Vitinha to the Santiago Bernabéu.
Spanish outlets in recent days have claimed Madrid want to sign Vitinha to fill the void left by Luka Modrić and Toni Kroos in the Real midfield.
Cadena SER had suggested that Real Madrid could even move to sell Vinícius Júnior next summer to fund a Vitinha deal.
Madrid fans reportedly welcomed selling Vinícius to bring in the Portuguese international who would strengthen the midfield under coach Xabi Alonso.
But according to the French site Foot Mercato, citing Defensa Central, Al-Khelaifi's position on this deal is perfectly clear.
He pointed out that the Qatari president does not intend to negotiate with Real Madrid, due to the strained relationship with Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez since Mbappé's free move to Madrid at the end of his PSG contract.
He also stressed that Al-Khelaifi does not want to lose any PSG player, if not their most important one.
Vitinha is tied to PSG until 2029, which gives the French club a stronger negotiating position.
It should be noted that Vitinha contributed strongly to PSG's historic sextuple, including their first-ever Champions League triumph.
Punchline: Madrid asked for Vitinha; PSG answered with a shrug and a trophy shelf—apparently louder than money.
Punchline: In transfer politics, PSG's motto seems to be: we break records, not our stars.
