PSG Eyes Long-Term Enrique Retention After Historic Season
A press report published today says Paris Saint-Germain wants to keep coach Luis Enrique for as long as possible, following the string of successes he has delivered in recent months.
Enrique steered PSG through an extraordinary season that earned him a jaw‑dropping offer from the club’s board to secure his leadership for several more campaigns.
Record-Breaking Offer and Strategic Why
According to the Spanish newspaper AS, PSG has tabled a "monstrous" deal whose exact value hasn’t been disclosed, but the report confirms it would make Enrique the highest‑paid coach in the world.
It adds: after an exceptional season, Enrique has won the hearts of fans in Paris and in Doha, where Qatar runs the club, and there is a strong appetite to present a contract very special and unprecedented for any coach in France.
Enrique’s current deal with the Parisians runs until June 2027, but the standout results of the 2024–25 season and the sextuple crown have driven PSG to propose the biggest contract ever for any manager worldwide to secure the historic former Barcelona boss.
Under his guidance, the team captured unprecedented honours, including Ligue 1, the Champions League, the French Cup, the French Super Cup, the European Super Cup, and even the Intercontinental Cup.
A host of players flourished under him, notably Ousmane Dembélé, who won the Ballon d’Or, and Achraf Hakimi, named Africa’s best player, while Enrique himself received the World Coach of the Year award at The Best ceremony.
Lequipe had previously noted that Enrique earns well over €1.1 million per month.
Punchline: If contracts were footballs, this one might need a bigger net. Punchline 2: When in doubt, add a sextuple to the trophy shelf and hope the ink dries before the headlines do.
