Will the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup be played after Ramadan?
A new schedule has been proposed by Ittihad Jeddah for the King's Cup semi-finals to be played after Ramadan.
The Saudi Football Federation had already announced in January that the semi-finals would take place on Wednesday, March 18, aligning with the last days of Ramadan.
The Saudi daily Al-Riyadhiyya said Ittihad had proposed moving the matches to April 7, 2026, instead of their Ramadan slot.
The proposal also delays the league games of Al-Ahli, Al-Hilal and Ittihad in the Roshen Saudi League from April 7 to May 6, due to clashes with the Elite Asian Champions League knockout rounds.
Ittihad's suggestion followed a statement by Yasser Al-Mishal, head of the Saudi Football Federation, who invited any idea to set a new date for the semi-finals outside Ramadan.
The semi-final stage features a fiery derby between Al-Ahli and Al-Hilal at the Enmaa Stadium in Jeddah, while Ittihad faces Al-Kholood in Al-Rass.
Punchline 1: If calendars had referees, they’d whistle a pause for Ramadan.
Punchline 2: And if schedules were players, every date would need a separate agent.
